put your head under your gas pedal look straight up at a big cylinder with a rod comming out, see if that is leaking, more than likely its either your master clutch cylinder or slave cylinder.

yeah, usually happens when the clutch isn't engaging all the way. I had this problem and the only thing that finally fixed it was replacing both the master and slave cylinders. before that, I had tried adjusting the clutch pedal assembly countless times, adjusting shifter cables, replaced rubber bushing around shifter assembly with stepped washers,  synthetic tranny fluid, etc...so if the cylinders are fine, try those  Cheesy

exactly as Kevin said. I did all of it.  Adjusting shifter cables, adjusting clutch pedal rod, bleeding the hell out of it, replacing rubber shifter bushings with washers, replacing the tranny oil, preying to Voodoo gods, eating pure vegetable diet, cutting crop circles in the shape of a Mitsu symbol, but nothing helped till I changed both master and slave and blead the hell out of it.

But the positive is that there is no way its gonna shift any better now without a tranny rebuild.
