I was just wondering how often I should replace my transmission fluid. I replaced it exactly a year ago with mtl and mt-90, its shifting fine and all im just curious on the recommended length before I should replace it again.

I've been told that tranny fluid should be good for 'up to 5 years' ... but i'm starting year 3 with this tranny fluid and am planning on changing it, just to be safe.

It all depends on how much you drive it too.  After 1 year you are definitly fine, unless you are paranoid and have loose money floating around, then do it for your own peace of mind, but it doesn't need it.

I do it yearly, or 20K kms max right now.  It gets dirty and seems to shift a little better with new syncromesh.

yep but so are trannies, and if you seen me shift my car you would know why... I love the second gear driveshaft thump...

and besides its only 25 bucks for 4 litres of syncromesh, I can burn that much gas in a hour...

Last year I put 30,000 kms on my car in six months, I like to drive, alot..
I changed the fluid in my auto with every oil change too, now that was expensive with a filter and gasket too..

overkill?? Probably, but these are special cars with special needs.
