Hmm....I had had the exact problem after I flushed my radiator.  Water wasrunning over my transmission for about an hour.

Afterwards the tranny doesn't want to shift anymore, especially into first or 2nd.  And after like 3 weeks the problem was still there.

It was so difficult to drive without 1st or 2nd most of the time in traffic, so I decided to drop the car off to Lowell.

Lowell says he doesn't know why the tranny became screwed up after I flushed my radiator, could be a conincidence.  And I have had my engine washed before without any ill effects.

And even after my tranny was removed and opened up Lowell doesn't see any obvious damage.  He says my tranny components looked great and clean.

But I told Lowell to rebuild it anyway with upgraded synchros, GVR4 gears, new debri filter and stuff since I really want to get the tranny to work again, and my tranny was original, and already has about 210K kms so I guess it will need rebuilding sooner or later.

Sorry if my experience has scared you, but I have a similar experience with my tranny and this was how I solved it.

If anyone knows what exactly caused the tranny not to shit after being washed I am very curious to know too.

maybe it seized up the slave cylinder.  Check the linkage right above the tranny to see if it possibly rusted really bad.  I have no idea, im just throwing out thoughts.

if chao's had this problem as well maybe there's some info on it on the digest or the larger boards, may be time for a search Smiley

thats just bizzare!?!

Kinda like washing your windows and then finding that you have a flat.  Just doesnt seem to mesh, if you will pardon the pun.

I know, I know, but my tranny refused to shift "RIGHT AFTER I FLUSHED MY ENGINE"  Sad

And rebuilding the tranny + a new CFDF did solved the problem.
