I am trying to get the damn bolt out of my filter housing and am not having any luck. I have soaked it for days and the allen bolt feels about ready to strip Sad Has anyone had to deal with this?

Please help me ?

Thanks. Aaron.

mine was feeling the same way. just put a huge breaker bar on it.  i mean a big one and have enough room.

you have to break the sealant.

can you get on it with one of those bolt extractors that Sears makes? Is there enough room to fit one over top?  If so,they work well.

You can also try to pound in a Torx bit socket that is slightly larger than the allen key.  I have to do this all the time at work due to old corroded VW engines using them.  Friggin ANNOYING.  Most of the time the Torx bit works.

Pound it in GOOD, till it for sure bottoms out.  Then put your biggest ratchet on it, adapted down to fit the socket. Then push HARD while turing, do NOT let it slip towards you.  It will crack loose.

I was thinking of cutting off a small peice of the allen key and welding it on and using a breaker bar?

Thanks for your ideas John

Great idea Matt Cheesy Today I had a buddy come over with some enthusiasm and a Mig welder. We welded a 5/16 allen socket in there and out she came :fire:

Damn i got an o2 houseing bolt that is giving me soooo much trouble, see the o2 housing isn't connected anymore, just to the exhaust, so it moves around when you are trying to un-torque the bolt. I have seriously wrenched on that bolt soooo damn hard. I think i will just drop the exhaust and leave it there. I  shant be needing it anymore. Tongue
