Went to the track tonight my best run was my first

13.244 @ 105.74 MPH w/ 2.156 60'

then

13.693 @ 106.74 MPH w/ 2.423 60'

then

13.641 @ 103.43 MPH w/ 2.186 60'  (hit fuel cut on this run and had to feather throttle after)

then

13.341 @ 108 MPH!!! w/ 2.302 60'

then

13.310 @ 106.96 MPH w/ 2.155 60'

This with the same setup as last time.  I disconnected my downpipe from the turbo this time and ran around 17-18 psi.  I was getting some knock in 3rd gear and 4th gear and was having some wheel hop issues in 1st and 2nd.  Clutch held every race though as i never did a staging burnout.  This is on worn cheap nexen street tires (205/40/ZR16) and still the 1.5L 4g15 tranny with a F1 Racing Gripforce (ebay) clutch thats worn.

Im happy with the results.  The colt will now be going off the road till next year.  No more track visits till 2009.  It will be getting a DSM FWD turbo 5-speed tranny/clutch installed over the winter and maybe some tuning.

The himiluating part is that 3 of the races were against a f&%king maroon  Mini-Van.  I lost every race.  It was a 80's style dodge caravan 4cyl turbo with a DOHC dodge spirt 16V cylinder head.  He ran consistant low 13's and then on the last one he ran a 12.8.

My MPH was higher then him everytime i raced him but he had slicks and rota slipstreams so he got me off the line by a bit everytime and i couldn't catch him by the end.

I felt happy for him tho cuz he said he has blown 5 motors in 5 years up.. and also has not been able to get a 12 second slip ever.  So he was stolked.

I will have a video posted soon as i can of that run where he ran a 12.8 and i ran a 13.3

damn mini vans!

Yeah but i feel good for the guy.  To run 12's in a heavy ass mini van takes some serious power.

The poor guy has been trying to hit 12's for 5 years now.   He finally did it and when he did he jumped around and screamed like a little school girl. It was pretty awesome.

that Purple 'Vette Eater will hand most guys on this board thier asses, no worries Brett.  On the street tho, different deal.  And I did the same dancing schoolgirl screaming thing when I hit 12's with all my self imposed rules  Smiley

I LOVES dah SLEEPAH!!  in all its forms  Smiley

Brett, don't burn out on any tires but "R" compound or slicks.  Doesn't help at all and wastes tire rubber, time and abuses your tranny and clutch.

Too bad about that last run, if you wouldn't have hit fuel cut, that would have been your best run.  With the colder air you make more power, but you also stuff a larger mass of air thru, and apparently, your ECU decided that was enough dammit!

well i hit fuel cut on that one run beacuse i was trying to get rid of knock, so i richend up my WOT one click on my MAFT.  This in turn raised my MAF signal enough for the ECU to hit fuel cut.  Oh well

Im very happy with my results.  Next year... better tires, better struts/bushings and better tranny.

The little 14b WILL hit 12's.  I guarentee it.

Those Doge Turbo Minivans were equipped with the potent 2.2L or 2.5L the most famous 4-banger in the domestic market, and Chrysler's saving grace back in the 80's. If it was the 16valve version they sometimes came with the Garett T4 and that pumps out some good figures from a stock platform. Bump the boost up, and you become a descent contender. The problem with 2.2/2.5L were the HG they tended to become problematic leakers. They are the ULTIMATE SLEEPERS!! Rock the Minivan  Shocked

Although they lack the aftermarket support of the 4g63, and the 4 figure horsepower potential at the extreme end of modded racecar world, the turbo dodges might have dsm's beat for bang for the buck.  And considering you could get the turbo engines in New Yorkers, Acclaims, etc as well as vans (1989, 1990), in my mind they are the king of sleepers Cool  For more info check out http://www.turbominivan.com/  http://www.fwdperformance.com/Store/  http://www.thedodgegarage.com/
