So, racing season is approaching. Heres some links.: Mission Raceway 2009 Schedule: http://www.missionraceway.com/mrpsched/mrpschedule.htmA couple of things about this years schedule: -Test and tune every Friday-I went to a few last year. Lots of fun on a Friday. $70 for running all day and watching everyone else all day! -21 street legal races this year They are bracket racing for track points for sport compact. I dont know if this was around last year? -The sport compact bracket races follow the street legal schedule. Good way to have lots of racing in a weekend. -Bracket Racing rules and regs are here, but is currently incomplete http://www.missionraceway.com/mrprules/2009%20D6%20E.T.%20Finals%20Rules-accepted-revised.docLooking to go Road Racing? Its some more money but a lot of fun. http://www.sccbc.net/The 1st step is doing classroom and track time to get approved for your novice license, or, do it to just improve your skills. Click on the Driver Training Link on the URL above, but currently, the dates are March 21, 28 & 29, 2009. Refer to the website for cost, but plan on $475.00 for a weekend of classroom and track training.

Those guys at Mission are expensive for their driver training. The Victoria Motorsports Club ( www.victoriamotorsports.ca ) hold theirs twice a year for ~$225 a pop. It yields the same qualifications for a novice license. Our track costs have risen sharply this year, so the price may go up accordingly. Our Spring Drivers Training will be held March 21 and 22, 2009. There are still a few spaces available. Visit the VMSC Website for more information, and for a complete schedule of this years' events.

Road racing is soo cool, but it cost tres much Bracket racing is booring for me at least. I'll skip that part. No fun with 21 second automatic diesel rabbits winning. And thats how I would do it. Talk about consistency. Hold rpm at 2200, wait for light, let off brake and floor it. Half an hour later turn left(notice no brakes, because you won't be going fast enough for them. Cost you like $1 for the whole nite including getting there and back, and NEVER need a helmet.

if you are shooting for cheaper track running (not racing, as they cautiously tell us to never advertise it as a race) you can join VCMC. The next track day is April 15th and costs only $190 http://vcmc.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=8765Let's go~!

shootout? Shit, you guys are all too damn fast for me now. We should have a 2 tier thing. Ryan, Matt, Lowell, Ron, Scott, Fraser etc etc etc, and then the rest of us. Nah, i was thinking about doing something in 4 groups. Just thinking outloud. 11.99 and under 12.99 to 12.00 13.99 to 13.00 14.99 to 14.00 (If you can't break 14.99, go practice driving ) Then people could try to dial in their car to the closest bracket, must make 3 passes minimum. The fastest car (average of all 3 slips) takes the prize. Prize? I have no idea, have to see what we have sitting around, or maybe we do a cash pool of $10 each or something. If we did cash i'd split it between the top 3 So, lets say we had 20 cars show up for the shootout, 5 cars per bracket (not realistic, more would be towards the 13s - 14s) that's 50 bucks a person, fastest car would get $30, second would get $10 Would be kinda fun. I know even if you won the group it wouldn't cover the cost of mission + gas + meth + race fuel, etc, but i think it'd be fun. Chances are we'd end up fixing someone's busted ass red (purple) talon. Last 'shootout' i was at Chris Andrews blew his stroker, then Fraser broke an axle or something. Never been to one where something didnt break.

Patrick, you should come to the Island for some autocross... I hear VCMC has a *slight* shortage of dates this year.
Scratch that... EVERYONE should come to the Island for autocross. We're already on Event #3 this weekend!

I know it's a common problem with all the driving car clubs in the lower mainlands. After the Boundary Bay airport close down now Pitt Meadows say we are too loud and not welcomed.
someone local who is also involved in Active Mountain Raceway invested millions into repaving the runway AND THEN they kicked us out, fishy as can be I'd say.
So officially there are ZERO autoX venues in lower mainland.... Mission lapping days are the only motorsport-like venue within reach. The ferry cost is raep and it's not worthwhile for autoX. Also looking at Pacific Raceway for events.
the mentality for most driving enthusiasts is that rather than going to dozens of autoX events a year we might as well go lapping days 3 -4 times a year and book it on the track like we rented it. More excitement for the dollar anyway.
