Hey guys I badly need new tires and I was just wondering whats a good brand and maybe where I could get them cheap.

The ones I have on there now are Kumho 205/55 R16

i have a set of falken fk-452 i could sell you for cheap.  they're 205/55/16 and if i had to guess, i'd say they have about 90-95% tread left.  i used them on my car for about a month before i got some rims.  the cheapest i could find them online was at 1010 tires for $129.99 per tire. with shipping, $620.00 for 4.  how about $350 for mine?

Check out Volco Tires and Wheels on Lougheed hwy in Coquitlam, I've bought 3 sets from them over the years.
Also, talk to Tommy at Racing Greed (604-931-8885). He just hooked me up with a sweet deal a few months ago.

I would highly recommend the Falken Ziex 912. They've been praised by a number of magazines (Grassroots Motorsports among them - They know what they're talking about) as the best choice for a cheap all-season.

I've got them and can vouch for this. They aren't great in the snow - Probably worse than average compared to others, but have good wet and dry traction, resist hydroplaning, and have a reasonable treadwear rating.

Also, you can fit a 225/50-16" on your car without problems. It's the same rolling diameter as the 205/55's, and with a minimal (if any) price increase. More rubber on the road is always a good thing.

I second this...but I had them a few years ago...the 512 model. By far, one of my faves I've had. The ones I have right now are Yokohama Paradas...I love them, and they have a really sexy tread pattern to them also. I always get comments on the tread pattern.  

Here are all the sets of tires (that I can remember) that I've owned. I'll put my favorites at the top, and least favorite at the bottom:

Yokohama Paradas (loud, slippery in the rain, but last forever...and look cool)........................All season
Falken Ziex (quiet, nice and sticky, were great in snow and rain...but wore out too fast)...........All season
Toyo Proxies (quiet, nice and sticky, were great in snow and rain, lasted the longest)..............All season
Pirelli Winter 210 (loud as hell, but very sticky on ice and snow, lasted a long time)..................Winter
Dunlop SP 10 (on the loud side, very sticky, but no good in rain).........................................Summer tire
Dunlop SP 9000 (on the loud side, very sticky, but no good in rain)......................................Summer tire
Khumo Ecsta Supra (just hated them) nothing nice to say.   ...........................................All season

I agree the Falken Ziex 912 are a great choice. IMO they are great in the snow, I drove to and from Tofino in January in about 4 inches of snow. They are a inexpensive tire, handle well, and great in the rain.

I don't know how different the 1g's and 2g's are as far as wheel wells go...but when I had the stock rims on my car, my Pirelli Winter 210's were 225/55/16, and my car was lowered 2 inches also.

I have 225/50-16" tires on my stock swirlies. They will fit.

they are a fraction of 1 percent taller.  Seriously.

On a stock 1g wheel it gives it a bit of a sidewall overhang, like an old US muscle car.  Its a bit wierd in transitions, but overall more tire gives more grip.

Very common upgrade size of tire.
