I did this on my 1G but same applies for the 2G.

Are your fender liners and or plastic covers that go in your wheel wells really ugly looking? Sometimes cleaning them with soap and water or solvent won't do.

Here is a how to on "restoring" them.

Step 1: Removal.

I don't have a picture of this but it's pretty straight forward. The liners and covers are bolted and screwed in the wheel well. The screws are clip style plastic ones that everybody hates. Yes you will probably strip them trying to take them out. The key it to go slow and use the right tool. I use a small flat head screw driver instead of a philips to take them out. If you strip them, no biggie. Just pry them out. I suggest spraying the bolts down with PB blaster and letting it soak in over night prior to removal.

Step 2: Cleaning.

Wash the parts with soap and water. Dry them. Then wipe them down with laquer thinner. The thinner will dry pretty quick like brake clean.

Step 3: Preperation.

Buy this stuff at Napa. It's an adhesion promotor for plastic made by Duplicolor. Sort of like a clear plastic primer. It works excellent. Apply 2 coats of this stuff waiting 2 -3 mins between coats.

Step 4: Application.

The stuff I used to restore the parts is a bumper coating made by Duplicolor, also found at Napa.

Spray your parts just like you would spray paint anything. Spray within 10 mins of spraying the adhesion promotor. Do 3 light coats of it. I waited 4 hours between coats. Im sure you don't have to wait that long, but I like taking my time on things.

Finished product. The picture on the bottom is with clear coat applied. I did this as a test with a spare cover I had. It's up to you to use it. It gives it a gloss. I personally like the oem flat black look.

Nice job. Mine don't fit properly anymore with my pulled fenders.. I had to cut them up and melt/stretch them. Waiting too long between coats though isn't always good, you get lamination. You often want to spray on the other coats while the first one is still tacky to get it all to adhere properly, but it depends on the product.

I test sprayed one already a while ago and its holding up perfectly. And the stuff has excellent adhesion, it sticks to anything!

I might recommend spraying some gravelgaurd on these peices as an alternative to Bumper Black.

It may not look as pretty, but it will be much more durable. The Euro texture stuff is fairly fine, no big coarse lumps.

I was thinking about it, but no. My car isn't a daily driver and will never see shitty roads.
