When I used the chevron premium (94) octane I got the shitty same mileage as the chevron 87 octane..(Around 400 kms to 40 liters).  Only the mohawk/husky gas seems to get me to 500 km tanks for some reason.

you'd figure you'd get the best mileage from the chevron 94 sans ethanol.. thats weird.

yeah i dont understand it... you would think the non ethanol mixed fuel would get better gas mileage.  It may have something to do with my a/f ratios under boost being around 9.9 and richer...

i dunno.... lol

yea its gotta be that Brett.  That would also explain why you can run regular fuel too,its super rich and it probably has conservative timing maps, especially once it sees knock and retards it.

Alcohol fuels have less energy per unit than gasoline so it almost has to be your car itself not the fuel.  unless either Chevron or Husky is playing at something...

I dont actually think the 89 turbo colts were designed for premium.  There is no sticker or warnings on the car like a 1g or 2G DSM has....

The previous owner (who owned the car since 1988 and also put 330 000 km's on it said he always ran 87 octane.  I imagine the turbo colts maybe use a less agressive timing map or something maybe then a DSM.......  who knows.

But that would mean colt owners were by nature... cheap?

Say it ain't so!

Well since we're comparing vehicles other than talons, I average 550km per 28L on my 87 NOVA, (5.1L/100km) and 275km per 11L on my Ninja 750 (4L/100Km). I commute about 150KM per day so I need good MPGs  Smiley

stock the fuel maps are quite rich.

That said, make sure your timing is set correctly, your plugs are new and gapped correctly and your filters are in good shape.  And your wheel alignment is good, and your tires are properly inflated.
