Intial dyno results
« on: September 21, 2009, 07:32:17 pm »
Finally some tuning......More strange problems surfaced again.....
Cylinder 2 and 3 starting misfiring..........
Every component was tested...and wiring checked....
A damaged coil plug was replaced and the problem disappeared...
Results!  a pinging 545 AWHP @ 25 psi.....(I didn't see it so I don't know the torque is, RG will have to post)
Timing was backed out to eliminate pinging and power fell (524hp/416torque)
Then the intercooler moved forward and the IC pipe disconnected.
Couple of more pulls and the oil started leaking out from the timing/pan area...
Also curious is the fact the cooling system isn't building any pressure.. Cooling pressure test revealed nothing....45 lbs boost test revealed nothing. HG stud and nuts seems to back off even after retighting.

Not sure why the pinging....(92 pump w/meth)
The test was halted as more minor repairs is in order...
Will try higher boost with 115 octane fuel. (later this week) ...want to see if the BW turbo really shines at higher boost.

No doubt that's fricken rad!

I'd also think the turbo has much more flow left in it.

Good luck driving 545hp around town :D

Holy shit!! nice numbers daniel!! SWEET

Thats a shit load of power at only 25psi!

Why did you use 92 octane instead of 94 octane, may I ask?  Wouldn't going to a higher octane fuel result in lower knock counts??

Did you find out where exactly the oil was leaking out from???  Hopefully not your new front cover!!!

I would STRONGLY suggest, as Brett said, that you use 94 octane.  Try a tank full of that before you spring for the race fuel.  Great power otherwize  :)

I am confused as to the whole bit about moving the intercooler and taking the pipe off?

The intercooler""  is not held in place by anything so the intercooler moved away from the radiator under boost and separated.....
I think 94 octane might have made a small difference,,,but RG disagrees....So I used the cheaper gas...
Had no time to trace the oil leak (should be minor fix I hope).
With all these issues of recent I decide not to run the timing cover for now so any issue could be seen.
This cam is quite mild in this motor.....and I heard that bigger cams can often help with denotation issues.

"" ETS intercooler with two upper mounting tabs that don't seem to connect to anything.

Hrrmm,, time for some custom brackets for the IC i guess!

Yeah i would for sure try 94 octane next time if u dont use racegas....

I dont really understand why RG would reccomend that  92 octane would work better then 94??? or they just are saying that it wont make a difference between the two??

I know on ANY of my turbo'ed cars i run... (and even on the wifes geo soemtimes) I ALWAYS run 94 octane ALL the time.  I wont put anything less into my turbo cars.

tested 94 octane.......= reduced power -15 hp.....I didn't ask if the pinging went away...
