Yeah unfortunalty i have not been able to save up any money for drivers training.  Looks like i wont be able to make it for this months session anyways.  There is another one in the summer as well... so if i can get some extra money saved up then maybe ill do it then.

Sad

Yeah, money is tight on my end too. Everything is just so expensive, it's hard to spare some cash for this kinda hobby.

A Miata is slow, too slow in stock form for a road course.

What i think you missed is that a stock miata would be put in a class with cars that are equally matched.  There are a few close to stock, maybe rims and tires added miatas out at autox and they easily beat my talon everytime.  Weight/power ratio and a good driver is all it takes.

I know they handle well. I am saying they're under powered for my tastes.

Just to add to that they are not slow, due to its weight/power ratio compared to our tank heavy DSMs which needs a lot more power to haul more metal.  Also, just because a DSM may have more power does not mean it handles as well as a Miata under power.

I would agree even at stock for a Miata (newer ones that is) they could quite easily smoke a stock Eclipse/Talon on track just because of the lightness and handling of the car.  And a better stock transmission.  If a Miata is 170hp with less weight of a 2G DSM

A Miata would be 14.2lb per 1hp at 170hp/2,410lbs
A 2G DSM would be 15.6lb per hp at 210hp/3,269lbs

I am not comparing a Miata to a DSM. I am saying the Miata is slow in general. Saying a Miata is fast is ridiculous. It's an agile little car, peppy at most.

And I am not referring to the new Miatas. I was referring to the 90-9X ones. But even so, the new Miata isn't fast. It's peppy car from the factory.

Oh and by the way, I am getting my Talon down to around 2800 pounds. Maybe less.

The only guy I know that has stripped his DSM to almost nothing is Zach Holt's car.  Of course he also replaced the hood, doors, and I think trunk with CF.

I'm running no bumpers, will be running no power steering, no AC, no abs, no north-south bars (chromoly front cross member), 16 lb wheels, carbon fiber hood, 16 lb seats, and a bunch of other shit will also be removed.

I'm getting my chromoly roll cage very very soon.
