Does anyone know if there is any significant difference between the two first generation TEL? I need a rear caliper and will be buying a used one for the time being as mine is semi seized and likes to make noise when I brake=very annoying. I just need to know if they are compatible.

nope no DSM's came with drums as far as i know.. (maybe 2G NT's do... not sure on that one)

I know for SURE that all 1G's came with rear disks, and they should all be compatible between each other...

the base model 1.8l cars can have drums back there, as well as non power steering.

MOST do have discs at all 4 corners tho.

As for if it fits, take your old one with you and compare them in your hands, using the MK1 eyeball.

I bought a rebuild kit for my front and rear calipers (AWD though). I'd do that before putting on another used one.

Check CAPS, part numbers between the TSi FWD and NT are likely the same.

well I will be driving my car to Jake Webber's Dad place so I will have with in that sense but obviously not off the car. He has a bunch of different parts cars so I can pick and choose hopefully. I'll snap some pics for comparison..

How much was the rebuild kit?

Thanks Dan this helps. I would assume that this works for the rears as well.

As for the rear drum discussions, not to be argumentative but the wifes 95 NT had rear discs its not the greatest pic but it clearly shows no rear drum. Maybe they changed it after 95s???

Straight out of the shop manual, no 1G dsms had rear drums. Not even the 1.8's.
