hey guys, just thought i'd give a review for you guys looking at different clutch options.  i wish i could have had a review like this when i was shopping for a clutch, but there was very little to be found.  i don't know about you guys, but i hate having a heavy clutch pedal, especially for a daily driver that gets stuck in stop and go traffic on a daily basis.  so i decided i would be the guinea pig and test out the act 2100 with a sprung 6 puck to see if it would hold almost 500awhp at the wheels.  the verdict is...it sure does, without even breaking a sweat.  i went from an act2600 with street disc to the current setup and i like the new setup way better.  i was pissed at first cuz the 6 puck chattered like crazy when it was new, but now that it's broken in and properly adjusted, it works flawlessly.  the engagement is pretty sharp, but it's just as easy to drive as the 2600 with street disc.  now i have a stock like pedal with lots of bite and it's super easy to launch at the track.  before i had to slip the clutch quite a bit to leave to line at mission, now it leaves the line quite hard with very little slipping, it just grabs and goes.  so for you guys who want a clutch that'll hold lots of power without a heavy pedal, give this clutch a try.  the 2100lb pressure plate with a sprung 6 puck disc makes a very streetable setup, it's rated to hold more tq than the 2600lb pressure plate with a street disc, and best of all, it's quite a bit cheaper.  i give it a two thumbs up

oh yah, i forgot to mention, for all of you who have had to change out your pedal assembly cuz of worn out bushings, this will help preserve the life of your pedal assembly because of the lighter pedal effort.  another plus for running this clutch.

hrrmm,,, intersting..

I have a buddy that ran a ACT 2100 on his RX7 turbo that ran 10's... he was putting down over 400 HP and he said it was the best clutch he ever ran.

I think i have a old act 2100 PP sitting around in my pile o' parts along with 2 used CF DF PP's and disks.  The summit van also has a 2600 in it i think,,, but im begining to think it doesn't as the clutch pedal feel is very light.  Maybe its a 2100 in my summit van as well.

I've got a 2100 sitting around somewhere as well...

.

I was not impressed. 2100 w/ street disc on, powerwise, a car that's pretty close to stock.

If any of u guys have a 2100lb pp that's in decent shape u wanna sell let me know, I want one for my other car too. I'll even trade for a used 2600lb pp with street disc with tons of life left. It probably has under 5k on it.

I took your advice Yan and got RG to change out the 2600 with street disc for the 2100 with 6 puck sprung . I just
drove it home tonight and its a lot easier on the left leg, super easy to shift now and grabs hard....I like.

yeah thats the only downfall of the 6 puck metalic composite disks... they wear shit out faster... mainly being they wear down the flywheel and PP surfaces.  I would guesstimate that they will last around 20 000km.   (of HARD street/track driving/launches) before they wear too much material off the flywheel/PP.  Not bad in my opinion for a setup that holds that much power and is also super streetable.  As long as you dont mind for a tranny re-re to re-surface the fly and maybe replace the PP as well.

In my experience i got around 10 - 15 000 k before the clutch started to slip from wear on the flywheel/PP... (the disk was fine and re-usable each time i took it apart.

just tried to get one of these setups at Lordco - the act 2100 with sprung puck is not in stock and they cited 4-6 weeks special order.  *sigh*.  Guess I have to hope Ziggy @ RTM has them in stock.  Price at Lordco was  Shocked Huh, too.  Started at $600 plus then ended at $430 with BCDSM account.  RTM is $413, and don't pay BC sales tax.

Thanks for this info Yan!
I've been hesitating to install the 2600 simply because of the extra load it will put on my pedal assembly.  I really don't feel like yanking that out and fixing it anytime soon.  I'm definitely going with the 2100/6 puck combo.

Ebay is the best price I've found so far @ this link:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120597113513&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Shipping is $30 to Canada... Not $120 like is shows at the top.

And since I think I just got scammed on Dsmtuners for an act 2600...I'll probably buy this one...'new'.
