I was going to with my build but I didn't have any machine work done on anything except that I honed it.

I was advised to use a more "regular" bearing with this.  A race part is usually best used on an actual race car or an engine that sees race conditions.  A good tri metal bearing works well on a street engine as it is soft on the part facing the crank.  It can absorb bits of crud without them contacting the crank.

Clevite makes great bearings and always has.  I used Sealed Power bearings and Hastings rings.  Got both from Lordco for pretty cheap. I think I payed less than $35 for the rod bearings.

When you get your piston rings make sure you get the correct ones.  The 2g has a couple of years of pistons that have a different size lower ring land and I had a real bitch of a time getting the correct set for my 2g pistons on 1g rods combo.

Thanks John. Just went to Metrotown Lordco and apparently they don't stock clevite main bearings. It has to be special ordered and it may take 3-4 weeks.  Can't wait that long though.

dont get the acl race bearings unless you are getting it machined!
I did this and it turns out they did not fit properly. Save yourself the time and either get stock bearings or have it machined and buy bearings that fit your sizes . Not saying anything bad for the acl race's, they are nice bearings, but in my case they did not directly replace my stocks.

I agree with what John says.

For a daily driver go with OEM bearings.

I went with the ACL bearings, but mine isn't a daily driver, or a stock motor. I also had machine work done and had the bearings and crank matched.

For a DD, go with OEM.

Oh! i forgot to ask about the Sealed Power Bearings.  Anyways, my purple talon is gonna be daily driven/track car once in a while.  Mods so far are:
K&N cone filter, cold air intake, kinetic fmic with greddy type rs bov, 20g turbo with evo3 o2 housing, apexi turbo back exhaust, dsmlink v2, Act 2100 with 6 puck sprung disk, fidanza flywheel, 650 cc injectors, 255 walbro fuel pump and rebuilt 2g head. I guess with these mods, i need to have a stronger bottom end. I wanna keep my 2g pistons and conrods, and get a stronger bearings.

Called Lordco again about the sealed power bearings and there's no stock. It has to be special ordered, about 2-3 weeks.  What about topline main bearings? Are they any good.  Lordco stocks them right now.

most Topline and Beck Arnly are reboxed OEM, so they are usually fine.

Well i have never used topline bearings... so i cannot say how the quality of them is....  I have used/seen there oil pumps and gaskets fail premeturly tho.

Beck Arnley stuff is great.  If you can find beck arnley stuff i would use it.  They are usually OEM stuff, or same quality as John stated before.

+1 on the oil pumps failing.

Then again, were those on full length, 2 bearing rear balance shafts?  And also with both parts of the pump new or reuse the teeth on the old one from one side?
