i was driving to work last night, driving on a slight down hill, when sudenly it felt like some one switched off my ignition. still moving i put it back in 3rd and bump start it, and drive it off the road. then it dies. restart, and it runs for 5-10 seconds, then dies. try again, and nothing. its not battery, fuel, timing, or compression. next, i pulled a plug, and there is no spark. my first guess is coil pack. anyone got other ideas?
i think this was the most broken talon off all time when i got it.

Sounds like part of the ignition.
Did you test all the coil packs? If it was just 1 that fail, the car would still run miserably on 2 cylinders.
If they ALL have no spark, could be CAS. Unless all the Coils are done for.

its fine now. it started right up after i payed $100.80 to get it towed home.

power transistor/ coil pack.
Replace and re-test.
could be a bad ECU as well but i would suspect the PT or coils first.

I had a similar problem it was a broken cas swap it out for a known good one so you can check it off the list.

Greentop cas, (75 shipped) Blacktop cas, (100 shipped) I know where the blacktop is but I will have to have a look through my parts for the greentop. |
