We're down here for two weeks and my fiance is doing a course down here. i just came with cuz i get to take 2 weeks off work and explore Cali for weeks. this is how my day went today:

you pay $5/day and you can pull your car right onto the beach! mostly trucks but there was a Focus, Miata, and some other small hatch's too

it's just open beach as far as you can see

spectacular beach

another spot about 5 mins from our hotel (p.s. we drove over 25hrs on the interstate so the Cruze is a bit dirty haha)

as you can see we REALLY needed those brand new winter tires we had put on 2 days before we left Vancouver. grr

we decided to go for a drive at night and found this road. some MAJOR twisties! every 100m or so the road dipped down and there was a stream that crossed the road. even in our brand new car we had to slow to a crawl to prevent bottoming out coming out of the streams lol

p.s. how's the weather in vancouver?  Grin

Wow, winter looks rough down there! It sure looks nice! Sure makes me miss summer. Its just a mess up here right now with this thawing crap melting all the snow.

Looks like Pismo Beach, big sand dune area down the beach from the road entrance?  Gorgeous scenery and weather.  Why do I live in this great white north? Tongue

we've been down here long enough to bring back the maximum allowable volume back across the border. so we'll each be picking up a bunch of bottles of Goose to bring home and last a year haha

ya i'm pretty choked about it. apparently when you cross the line into Cali there's a mountain pass, and if the conditions are icy or snowy and you dont have snow tires or chains they won't let you pass and you get turned around. and since the snowwies came with the car for free we figured it wasn't that big of a loss. we were on a time schedule and had to be here by a certain time and couldn't afford to get turned around. by next season we'll buy another set anyways so it's no big deal i suppose. still kinda sucks though  Undecided
