I don't think there is much 15w40 synthetics.

Most maniufactures only make a 5w40 synthetic

Mobil isn't anything ground breaking but its well priced and when you have to spend 150$+ on oil changes just in parts, that is a consideration

Also their 15w-50 is not a GF-4 oil, its not made to meet emissions/mileage specs like the one they tested (they also only state to avoid GF-4 oils) and from their own chart it contains more Zinc/phosphorus than the other inexpensive Mobil oils, but that said

Mobil 1 on the whole is a commuter oil, but the 15-50 is a bit different as is the 4 other Mobil products they highlight in yellow that meet their requirements. (Mobil race oils, which are still on par with royal purple/etc in price)

Also it goes without saying that if your engine is making 3 times stock output, generic consumer oils aren't worth the savings anymore, but for a stock engine I highly doubt it can cause issues. A lot of BMW (and even Stealth/3kgt guys) use this oil on cars that see nearly weekly track use, but are otherwise pretty stock, so it can't be that bad.

yes it is definately availiable.  I use it in the Talon and bring it into the shop thru Lordco.

I wouldn't suggest it in Matts ride tho, as there is no need.

Makes sense.. I suppose all this chatter about using thinker oils is on modified dsms 300hp+ on the non daily driver type. But thanks for the clarification, i may just put in castrol gtx high mileage next change then.

high mileage is just a gimmic IMO....  i persoanlly use castrol GTX 10w40.  Regular dino oil...  a little thicker but still within the factory recommendations.

The weather down here DOES get up around 30 deg celcius in the summer... and also i drive the car at higher then stock boost levels for extended periods of time and also race it at mission... so i want a oil that provides a bit better viscosity at those temps. It will also help the thinner viscosity and synthetic oils from getting past the rings/valve seals.

I would recommend the same for your car... yeah 10w30 or 5w30 will work... but if u drive ur car fairly hard... then the thicker (10w40) will protect your engine a bit better...

The only way i would run 10w30 or 5w30 in a turbo mitsu would be if i was operating it in constant sub zero temperatures up north or something in the winter.
