.

To start with let me say that, I know it seems backwards when most people would want to rip the A/C out of their cars in order to go faster but I am curious if any one has bothered to install an airconditioning system on a car that originally had none.  What road blocks did you come across?  etc....

The donor car is a 94 Non turbo.

The car that will get the upgrade is a 91 Turbo AWD.

On my old, old  1ga the previous owner had removed the condensor, lines and compressor, but all the electrical and evaporator was still there.  It was pretty strait forward to re-install it all.

Putting ac into a car that never had it b4 tho is a different matter.   I'm sure it couldbbe done but it would require complete removal of the dash and swapping in the proper heater/evap box, plus all the switches and control module.

If its still R12 you will also have to retrofit it to R134a.

yep, the dash part will be the hardest and the biggest pain in the ass.

Putting a condenser in behind the rad, installing the compressor and piping, that will be a bit of trouble, but putting the evaporator in the dash and running the wiring into a harness that does not have it will be a real treat...

The non-a/c vehicles might have all the wiring there... just the connectors are left unplugged....so in theory you could get all the switches/ a/c module(mounts on the top of the evaporator box) and sensors and just plug them in... thats IF your non a/c harness has the plugs.

Sounds like a big job!!  Might be easier to just sell the auto 1g with no a/c and get one that does have AC hahahha

  That's definitely a consideration.  I am contemplating Yas's 1G but as of yet I don't know if has A/C.

The wiring is there however so as long as the computer won't mind me adding an A/c unit it looks like it's just all grunt work...... something to do in the winter I guess..... and the unit I have in mind is R134a.  . . . . . . . . do I want to do more work?    hmmmmmmm

I'm also going to look at a non-runner tomorrow and don't have much info on it yet either.
