yeah its just the cable, i was going to disconect that then drive around the block and see if that gets it free. Other wise I will have to take apart the rear braking system and go at it fresh. Who knows, if I have to do that maybe I will just go with the 1Gb brakes. I only upgrade parts as they break.

don't drive it with the ebrake siezed. fix/get that fixed pronto.
its probably the caliper, but it could be the cable too, so just find out.
any why not drive with the ebrake siezed John? Allen - John is right, 90% of the time its the caliper. Easy enough to check for yourself, look at the caliper from the rear of the car and you can see if it releases when you disconnect the cable, there is a hinge and spring setup on the caliper. The rear 1gb brakes are the same, unless you have a 1990 car (like I did) in which case your rear calipers are actually different than all the other years, although they're interchangeable . If you do have a 90 be careful if you change calipers because most places sell the newer style and it repositions the brake line slightly which in my case caused it to rub on my wheel when the car was driven at speed (didn't touch at a standstill) I didn't know until it was to late and the line ruptured on the georgia viaduct... but thankfully my newly adjust e-brake still worked to stop the car haha If you have any other year of 1g they all have the same rear brakes so the 1gb style isn't an upgrade.

Ide remove the center console and try to move the cables from there. disconnect them from the equalizer bracket and just try to move them . they work like a bicycle brake cable. so they arent that hard to check. Also check the lever at the caliper for movement. Just jack up the car and try to move the bracket in the caliper (maybe even with it disconnected in the cab to ensure easy movement) If the lever wont budge, then the caliper is the problem.

well I got my new ride home and wow what a machine! Other than a really, really loud downpipe that makes the car sound like a jacked up diesel 4x4, and brakes that need to be replaced, this ride scares me. I need to go into an empty parking lot late at night just to learn how to drive again. Who would have thought that I would end up with an awd complextion.

I found out today that I don't need to fix my downpipe, instead I found out that it wasn't even conected to the rest of the exhaust! No flex pipe not cat. I had that installed today and pased air care with flying colours it reads as follows:
Driving test Hydrocarbons (hc) ppm max is 88 my vehicle 15 average 17.5 Carbon Monoxide (CO) % max is 0.66 me 0.02 average 0.12 Oxides of Nitrogen (NOx) ppm max is 978 me 124 average 352.5
Idle Test Hydrocarbons (HC) ppm max is 111 me 8 average 12 Carbon Monoxide (CO) % max is 0.87 me 0.00 average 0.02
End result PASS!!
