So I went to get in my car today after it had been parked for 2 days, pressed the alarm, and it made the most half ass sound and didn't produce enough voltage to do the power doors, so the batt was completely dead.

Now I want to replace the battery with a new unit, are all DSM batteries the same?
I have a 97 Talon, 6bolt swap. Not sure if the 6bolt, 7bolt, 1G/2G thing made a difference in ordering?

You order by year and model.

97 turbo, or N/A, etc.

Yeah but does it make a difference having a different motor and possibly different alternator, etc..

wont matter as long as the cranking amps are the same. just match your current battery.

before running another battery it may also be a good idea to look at the ground wires and power wires in the engine bay and on any newly installed items that draw power. You could be draining the battery.  test your alternator too.

Yeah.... do a parasitic draw test....  DVOM... set it on AMPS (10 amp setting)  and then with the key off and all the doors closed and such then  use the leads to complete the connection to the ground terminal (with the ground disconnected)

You should have 30 miliamps or less draw.. otherwise the battery will go dead after a couple of days.

to do this though, you need a charged battery.

Your having no luck with this car.    Just get a battery that fits your car.    6 or 7 bolt engine doesn't matter.    I think the battery is a group 58 but I could be wrong.

Get an Optima Yellow, that's a solid battery for our cars...especially if you have bass.

get the alternator tested and the wiring looked at.

There is a reason the battery went dead.  If its not just because its old and sulphated etc, the new one will do it too.

I got a new battery today, but I will try out the parasitic draw test that Brett mentioned above.
John does the alternator specific shops test out my alternator and wiring? I know there is a place in Kelowna called Wards Alternators and Starters.
Allen the pump has been rewired.

I found a 400mA draw, dropped to 40mA when I pulled the stereo/dome light fuse from under the hood.
Obviously the issue lies there, another day will be spent diagnosing lol.
Thanks again everyone
