Hey guys whats up ? I just got a new pyrometer from autometer and need to instal it . Its the threaded stye with a weld insert .The insert has to have  a 9/16 hole to sit in the mani seems like a big hole . Have any of you tried to tap the mani itself and thread the unit itself in without the weld fitting? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

No experience with it but in thinking about it I would say that doing it  that way could lead to leakage and/or cracking around the probe since the mani is thin and cast. There would also only be a few threads to hold it due to the thickness issue. (I'm assuming the bung will sit proud) I think I would want to do it the way they suggest.

PS I'm jealous, I need an EGT too
