i'll bring scca rulebook if u care to see it this sun. at slush 4.

last sat. cacc voted to adopt scca rules for 2005 (hooray!) but the cacc SP classes have been grandfathered for 2 yrs to ease transition for some.

so in 2005/2006 there will be scca AND cacc SP classes, and all other scca classes.

Is scca still based on points to move you up in class?  Or is it based on components of the car modified to move you around?  What else are the big differences - ie why should I be happy about it too?

NO point system in scca.

i say hooray cuz i'm for 1 set of rules for north amer.
it promotes fair cross border competition.

scca rules and pax are also "fairer" since they are based on thousands of natl competition drivers and don't cater to a minority or local interest.

SCCA Categories

    * Stock (similar but not identical to CACC stock ruleset)
    * Street Touring (similar but not identical to CACC SS - largest difference is street tires required)
    * Street Prepared (falls between CACC SS and SP categories)
    * Street Mod (similar but not identical to CACC OSP)
    * Prepared
    * Mod (6 classes in Mod category instead of 4)

SCCA Solo II Kart classes will not be part of the proposed adoption. Provision will also be made to class Canadian edition of cars that are/were not available for sale in the US (example: Toyota Echo Hatchback).
