There's only 3 activish dsm autoxers that i know about in the lower mainland. Myself, Farzaan Kassam and Pete P. Farz and Pete aren't bcdsm members but Farzaans been around the community for years. Keep an eye out for his race built 1g at the regionals.
I should be out in the summer for a few events

Weeelll John, first, a set of tires will last you atleast half of a full season, and thats if you absolutely beat on them. Gas, well ya the trip from the wack out to boundary bay is pretty far, thats really your only issue though. You dont need upgraded brakes, and you wont go through your pads in even a complete season, autox isn't that hard on brakes. Entry fee is usually $20-25 Most of the driving is done in 2nd gear, it's really not much harder on the car than your every day driving. I think a lot of you have a misconception of what autox is, it really is worth checking out even if yhou just run one day it's a great way to get to really know your car. Plus it's damn fun

It's when you go out and do lapping sessions at a full road course that things get really expensive, last summer and the summer before I had participated in a few lapping sessions at Shannonville and Mosport in Ontario (Mosport is a site of one of the Speedvision Cup races) I went through 60L of 110 octane and a set of RA-1's, a full set of brake pad's and an oil change change it Friday, and then again on Monday. In the end I think it was a $1000+ weekend, but it was totally awesome, almost 200km of full track driving. I just thought of that 60L=200km I wonder what my gas milage works out to be...

ahh, Tim, I think that is what I was thinking about.
Autocross is in a parking lot with cones, and you go one at a time right?
Not on a dedicted road course?

looks like I will have to bow out of the earlier ones. Not much time to prepare. Plus I have to make sure my shocks are replaced first. I still have the original ones on the car and it has 224 on it Maybe later in the year...

prepare? prepare for what? just clean all the loose crap out of your car (if you're not like me this should take 2 minutes) and stop at a gas station to up your tire pressures to ~38-40ish and you're ready to go. Assuming you still have your stock battery tie down. As for shocks, i ran on my stockers that have been abused with pro-kits for over 15k so safe to say very useless. This phrase helps when anyone has qualms about the equipment their competing with. "if a mid 80s firefly, a 1g supra/celica, a 68 mustang and a firetruck can run autox, so can your car" BTW Here's an awesome read for newbies http://www.tirerack.com/features/solo2/handbook.htm
