loud exhaust note
« on: August 25, 2003, 10:58:20 pm »
I've never actually stood beside a another talon to hear the exhaust but mine is pretty loud. I don't know if this is normal or a small leak. Like at idle, I can see my passenger headrest and back part actually vibrate and shake and also my steering wheel and my steering components and all that is fine. Is this just the power detonating from within or what? When I floor it well, that's a whole different story.  :) I have a 40 series original flowmaster muffler. Man... god only knows how it's gonna sound when I get a full 3" mandrel turbo back in the near future!! OMG then there's that test pipe for our cars!! Holy I don't even want to think about it!!!

I got 3" downpipe w/ high flow cat and 3" mandral bend cat back and my car girates like a dildo on high.
We took the trans out today, and the front diff broke apart and cracked the case. The front motor mount is also torn right off the subframe... can you say wheel hop?"

Then everytime I downshift I'll get that flame burst from my tips! Man that's gonna be kool..boy I can't wait for this weekend! :)

Don't we actually require a certain amount of the backpressure to keep the engine from being gutless?

That's a 4-stroke engine anyway, not 2-stroke one.

the turbine wheels hanging out in the exhaust stream provide all the backpressure our motors ever will need.

3" downpipe exiting behind the front wheel would probably be ideal for a built motor.

Flavian, they are pretty loud.  Mine is a stock 1g O2 with a 3" mandrel bent all the way back.  No cat, Borla muffler.  It sets off car alarms, shakes windows, causes lots of heads to turn.  And that is at idle/cruize :)
