because your tire will rub on the inside of the fender well, or suspension parts.

Yes, the offset will affect the tire rubbing on suspension bits, BUT correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Leon's comment is in response to Robin's comment on tire bulge?  If so then offset will have no effect on sidewall bulge, which is Aaron's comment, which is correct. :)

Dsm's usually run a 25 inch tire...heres a breakdown on what works
Stock size: 205/55R16- 25 inches fits on a 16x6-7
stock size option: 215/55R16-25.4 inches fits on 16x6-7
16" plus one upgrade: 225/50R16- 25 inches fits on a 16x6.5-8
17" stock size: 215/50R17-25.4 inches fits on a 17x6.5-7.5
17" plus one upgrade: 225/45R17-25 inches fits on a 17x7-8
17" plus one option 235/45R17- 25.4 inches fits on a 17x7.5-8.5
Alternative 17" options 245/40R17-24.7 inches fits on a 17x8-9
Another option is 245/45R17- 25.8 inches fits on a 17x7.5-9
