Log results - opinions?
« on: February 14, 2004, 06:57:17 pm »
K - so I did a TMO log

Here are the results of 3rd gear with pedal to the floor and about 16psi

Engine speed : 4600~5300rpm
Fuel trim high : 100%
Fuel trim low : 101%
Knock 0
O2 .88v
Throttle 66~69%
Advance 19~21

My throttle on the whole run wont go past 69% MAX!  Why?
My advance seems to high too - averages in the 20's when throttle is 60-ish%
My knock is non-existent except in 1st for a moment I get up to 12 counts when advance is at 28.

Anybody have opinions on these results?
The whole time in 3rd when pedal is to the floor, all the readings are basicly steady as above.

Thanks for any help.

Well with the throttle yout TPS is either way out of calibration or your cable isnt' opening the throttle all the way.  Check it by pulling the UICP off and having someone step on the gas.... make sure the car is off too

I had something similar before with the throttle.  Most likely it is just loose cables.  Takes a total of 15 seconds to retighten.  Remember though, not too tight

Checked the cable - holy loose batman.

Slid back the bar just to the point that the lever was about to open the flap and tightened the slider at that point
Definately more power already!
Well, roads are really wet at the moment so first and second gear were lost to the rain.

3rd gear throttle position at 4000rpm got to 80% with 18deg adv and 1 deg knock
Short fuel trim jumped to 126 though! (Long is still 100)

I could not go more yet, the road was wet, narrow and curved, I got scared

Marty's got a 255 in there tho and an Evo 16g.  More efficient and more fuel = less knock.

Well, just did some runs from Mission to Vancouver
The worst one was
At 17PSI (creeped) 6800rpm, 98%TP in 3rd gear = 20counts knock and timing dropped to 11deg for a sec

Similar run at 16PSI (less creep - started wot later) 5800, 98% in 3rd = 6 counts knock dropped to 20deg adv

Average short quick wot 3rd gear runs were at 14PSI and were uneventful.

My short trim is now 139.8%
Medium is 100%
Long is 103.6%

It is set at 14psi but creeps up to 17 when floored for a while... :(

I need to make it ok at higher psi - My goal is 20psi for race day anyway.... injector and fuel management time.....

im kinda in the same boat as you guys...i have roughly the same mods as you marty except i have a act 2100 and a lightened flywheel instead of your 2600 and fidanza set up..i have the turbo upgrade and other pieces...i bought some 550cc injectors and i'm gettin a pump and safc
but i want high boost for raceday like 20 but i dont think i'll beable to get that without a better intercooler
marty you'll need an ic upgrade to run high boost like that...that small piece of **** stocker cant cool
I wish god would place a nice kinetic fmic in front of me right now
