hopefully the picture worked out..gettin tired of not havin an engine bay pic up on here so here it is (if it worked).
Bling plans for spring/summer are chrome 2.5' uicp, chrome 3' intake pipe, and chrome upper and lower heat shields, I have my heat shields off in the pic cause i'm gettin them chromed soon.
Should be nice and shiny once all the chrome is in there.

Did everything you see here today, painted all brackets along the fire wall, battery tie down, timing belt cover, upper heat shield, headlight mounting brackets, rad support brackets, sanded off ugly red paint on Valve Cover.

Step 12.  Disillusionment.  Accept what you have.  Seek a licenced therapist to help you cope with the reality that all the money you spent and your emotional connection to your DSM is highly illogical.  Or stupid.  Or crazy.  Group hug.............

That's gutting the Laser right before it got scrapped. And no, I'm not turbo'd, and I'm not dumping atmospherically.

Ever wonder how big a 1g DSM wiring harness is?

It stretched out much longer, but I couldn't get it to fit in one pic at a good angle. That's every wire, nothing was cut....I still have that by the way for any colt projects or anything....

Anyays, car comes off the road in 6 days, then about 3 weeks after that hopefully I'll have some engine bay pics of the talon as well.

That's a Filter for the Valve cover, some people use oil catch cans others just put a filter in the stock line, another way is to just put a filter on and ditch the line. That's what I did, I use the little K&N Filter

they come up for sale every so often if you keep your eyes peeled, someone was making these a long time ago and there was a group buy type of thing, maybe if you make a big fuss you can motivate ppl to start another one  :P

by the looks od ir wiring a couple one off mounts and a snip on the fender and a paste on the hood.
Title: Re: BC DSM Engine bays...

It looks lots harder than it is. If you use a 1gb hood it makes things lots easier.  Just some headlight wiring of the headlights and some cutting of the fenders and extending the 1gb hood.

Well I finally got my engine bay tidied up after the most recent installations and the transmission replacement. The only thing left to clean up is the ghetto coolant overflow bottle once I figure out where I want to mount my new one.

You recirculate the blow off valve because the mass air flow sensor has already included that air in its fuel trim calculations and counts on it still being in the system, not vented to atomosphere.  Therefore the fuel injected for the already measured air is too much for the actual air still in the system.  Short answer... you're running pig rich whenever the blow off valve opens like during throttle lift conditions (shifting, transition from accel to brake, etc...).

if you have a metal intake pipe it won't be that quiet.

When I went to speed density on my Talon, I don't need recirc any more so I saved money on the new intake pipe by not putting a recirc pipe on it.  Its about the same as it was, bov noise wize.  Maybe even a tad quieter if I am being fully honest.  And before it was recirculated.

new, however the old had the same peak hp. but the stock mani ported offers way better mid range. Even tho the old tb was 70mm lol. the stock tb and ported mani flow similar. the sheetmetal intake with the mustang tb was just more of a lightswitch. mix that with the huge pipes and it made this thing almost unstreetable lol   a lightswitch with no powersteering is an out of control go kart. lol    i kinda miss the old setup, as rediculously awsome as it was. Its a shame the intake kept cracking. I re-welded it a couple times with no luck. Oh well. I get better gas mileage now and the same power with more mid.

i'm surprised  what kinda numbers you'll put down with meth ? unless you already have ?

This thing needs meth. It already has a port infront of the tb waiting for a meth nozzle. Ive been hoping to find a kit for cheap...

325whp without meth makes me curious. lol   And Im still contemplating on what my purpose is for wanting water/meth. Im pretty green when it comes to meth kits. I understand how everything works but I dont know what kind of gains I would get with a really aggressive setup. Ive been told that I could max the turbo out. What kind of results would I get with a basic setup? I really dont want to push this thing too far.         its just tempting....   ::)

Kinda random Q but is there any way to figure out engine hp based on whp rated on a mustang dyno?  I know the results vary with the brand of dyno and drivetrain differences....

can run more timing, it ups the octane rating of your fuel, cools intake charge, cleans combustion chambers, can modestly tune with it and gain a fair bit from what i've researched.

Post by: John Hartman on January 12, 2011, 07:07:21 pm
you can more than modestly tune with it  :)

And besides running more timing advance(and that can only go so far, too much timing does not make any more power) you can run more boost!!  And more compression.

How much torque did it put down ? My 16g setup with meth and lots of boost is around the same hp wise but the trq is like 315 .

283ftlbs.

daniel - what did your car put down without meth? do you have before'n'after results?

im not sure when i bought the car it only had 3" exhaust .then....
1) i went to racing greed and got meth , 16g , mbc , 2g mas , safc and turbo inlet pipe - 275awhp -24x trq
2) fmic , aem ems , converted to non mas forget the actual name , more meth/ boost -330awhp - 315trq

soon to be 3) more boost, pre-turbo meth nozzle  - hoping for abit more juice

pre turbo allowed me to run approx 5 more psi, roughly tuned.  I imagine that will really wake things up  :)

In the process of piecing a kit together. Incorporating pre-turbo nozzle. Will probably go with a hobb's switch.

Thanks mang.

Im pickin up a solenoid this week and my meth setup is complete.  its a simple setup but should do the job.  150cc snow performance pump - SMC accumulator - SMC solenoid - 12gph coolingmist nozzle mounted at TB  - with good'ol Turbo power windshield washer fluid. Ill post pics of how i mounted everything later.

Tucked it so well you can't even see the engine! In all seriousness though, I've stripped down the engine harness to the bare minimums, just have to mock it in place once I get my motor back from machining and once my shep tranny arrives. Stripping down the entire engine bay body harness as well. It's disgusting just how much of it is for the ABS system.
