Guide to posting pictures on the forums
« on: February 17, 2011, 07:09:36 pm »
There are some people who don't know how to post pics up on the forums so I decided to write this guide. This will walk you through the process on a computer since I haven't found an easier way to post directly from my iPhone yet.

Quick overview: the way pictures work on these forums is the picture has to be hosted somewhere then linked to the forum post. I use http://photobucket.com/. Sign up for an account or log into your account if you already have one.

If your taking pictures off your camera (SD Card) make sure they are in .jpeg format. This will ensure the fastest uploading to photobucket.

Step 1: upload picture from your computer to photobucket. Click 'Upload Now'

Step 2: click 'Select photos and videos'

Step 3: select which photos you want to upload and click 'Open'. Hold Ctrl to select more than one pic

Step 4: the photo will upload to photobucket

Step 5: once the photo is uploaded click 'Save and continue to my album'

Step 6: once your looking at your album in photobucket mouse-over the picture you want to upload to the forums. a drop down menu will pop up

Step 7: click the box beside 'IMG code'. It will automatically copy the link

Step 8: paste the link in your post and, well, post!

Hopefully that helps. Please feel free to add anything and I'll add to this. This is the easiest way I've found to quickly upload pictures. Maybe we can have this stickied?

easier, don't need to make a photobucket account, bandwidth caps are low, PB pulls the pictures quickly on busy boards.

happy?  8)

lol i wasn't annoyed, i'm curious how they work and maybe find a quicker way to post pics myself.

by low bandwidth caps does you mean if the pic is loaded too many times then photobucket pulls them from your album?

photobucket can tell if the pics are being loaded on their site or on an external site.  Once you hit their limits, they will no longer serve the pics to external sites.
