PROJECT 2GB (updated nov 2013)
« on: August 04, 2011, 01:18:04 am »
I know,  i know....  i said i would never buy a 2G.... but i guess i just have to try every flavor...

Needs a little cleaning up and matiencence and it should be a good daily driver. the front bumper is a bit banged up and missing the rebar support inbehind it, but im already ontop of that...SHould be installed and painted within the nxt month. Also going to need a valve cover as the one on there is cracked, as well as a new timing belt as its a little oil soaked, and i dont want to chance anything.  I took it for my first drive today and the tranny shifts smooth, the car pulls hard and seems to run great!!  The suspension still feels really tight as well.

SPECS:

145 000 km's

-1996 talon awd 5-speed with 2gb eclipse conversion (bumpers/headlights, tailights, spoiler, roof painted to match)
-Midnight Blue w/ pearl Paint job
-Full load (power locks, windows, leather, sunroof, A/C) (no ABS)
-Stock engines/trans/engine managment
-VRSF 2g intercooler kit (professionally installed, perfect fitment, modified compresser housing also)
-Ball/spring MBC
-Brand new full 3" mandrel exhaust with RS-R muffler (currently has 3" cat installed cuz I just did aircare)
-Aftermarket K&N style air filter
-17" OZ superleggera wheels with 225/45/17 winters (new)
-Full 4 wheel alignment just performed with camber kit installed front and rear.  Specs all back to factory
-Eibach sportlines w/ Koni yellows all 4 corners
-HID headlights.

these pictures really suck... ill take some better ones once its all cleaned up and i get the new bumper on and painted.

the hood was popped in this pic....

This just seems un-natural. You were like the school bully with us 2G owners.
I actually remember you saying "2G's are for girls"

 :D

Looks good though, nice find!

Fuck I love those wheels.

Brett are you trying to beat my record of buying/owning/selling cars?

If so, I bought another BMW wagon last week but have already sold it, so I'm keeping up with you  ;D

Definitely need to take some nice shots of that car, will you bring it out to the meet this month?

well if i can get the saftey stuff all done (tie rod, wheel bearing, alignment, tires)... as well as put on the new valve cover and gasket and replace the timing belt which got some oil on it from the cracked valve cover that was on it......

if i get all that done then ill try and take it to the meet or even better yet,,,  THE TRACK!! hahah yayy

I imagine i will drive this thing for a few months and get her all up to par, and then throw her to the ditch!! ahahah  nothing can come between me and my evo... well maybe nothing except turbo colts ;)

Starting to collect the parts...

Got a brand new front bumper (needs prep+paint) and also got a bumper re-bar support and brackets from a 2g at pick a part...  Also managed to find the small inserts that fit into the bumper openings where the fog lights would normally go.  pick a part find as well! ahhaha

Also will be picking up the rear hatch floor as well very soon!!

Hoping to have her on the road sometime this month!

Well, a little update here on the progress..

Bought a new shiny part for her.  I had my personal model showcase it.

(VRS FMIC KIT)

and heres my little helper, helping "fix" (which means, stuff all daddy's tools into the manifold) a manifold i had laying around lol

And here is how the car sits currently.  (engine bay is stripped almost to nothing, primered, waiting for paint)

That intercooler piping is awsome. I like how direct it is. Looks efficient.
