Nice lookin meet boys!! Great area, would take some shweeet shots there.
As for film and digital, I have both. A very old fully manual SLR that takes incredible shots and a brand new Nikon D60 that also takes incredible shots but is fast and easy to use, and light and simple. The old one made me a better photographer, but its at best 1 shot every 3 seconds in perfect light at long range focusing. Up close I have to manually focus, then manually set fstop and shutter speed, and advance the film to the next one. This takes quite a long time. The D60, I can get 3 shots every second.
However, unless you spend HUGE on a DSLR, a good film one will take better pictures. Lots of professionals still use them. Not for digital use(on a computer or like that) but for printed film, large blown up shots, quality film still wins. Lots of camera clubs still have competitions with film for this reason. You can still buy film too
And film cameras.
