Chirping in Neutral w/ clutch out...
« on: November 07, 2002, 08:42:23 pm »
I can hear a chirping sound, like a squirrel or a small bird, when I'm sitting in neutral with the clutch out.  If I push the clutch in, the chirping goes away.  Should I be concerned?  Is this the early symptoms of some expensive damage?  As far as I know, this is the stock clutch.

I used to have some weird rattle from the tranny area too with car in Neutral and clutch out, turn out to be a loose exhuast heatshield vibrating.

Some metal rubbing due to engine vibration..... or maybe a squirrel or small bird is stuck in your intake......

Could also be TO bearing but lets hope its just a squirrel

besides TOB is more of a grinding

Throw out bearings should make noise when the clutch is in, not out.  Make sure you check your tranny fluid level.

Most likely the t/o bearing rubbing on the pressure plate fingers.  Nothing to worry about.

If it's a squeeling you've probably got nothin got worry about.  If it becomes a metal on metal kinda grinding noise it's the input shaft bearing on the tranny, I've had three trannies in two cars with this problem...
