*Help* Disable Daytime Running Lights . . . ?
« on: February 03, 2013, 12:56:50 pm »
I bought new Eclipse CCFL Halo Projector Headlights.
And I want to use my CCFL Halos as my Daytime Running lights.

Now the DRL's run through the Hi-Beams, at a low voltage so the filament doesn't get as bright.
Does anyone know how to disable the DRL without disengaging the Hi-Beams.

I've already hooked up the CCFL's to an ignition line, so they are on when the car is on, but so are my standard DRL's.

HELP ME DSM GURU!!

I've searched the archives, and only found info for the 1G, but I'm in a 95 Eagle Talon TSI AWD.
Maybe if someone who is better at searching than I am, can link a thread.
Or if someone knows how to perform this operation can assist, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!
:)

My 95 awd was on the front left(driver) side corner. I think it's right beside the charcoal canister. I just unplug it to disable the DRL. It looks like a square box with 4 or 5 wires coming out, not too sure how many wires though.

Under hood, or at footwell?
Can you take a pic please?

Thanks

Its behind the driver side front bumper area. I can't take any pics as it's gone already, sorry :(. I took it off when I strip the car and it went in the garbage i think.

Here is a pic of what I am looking at.

I unplugged '1', but that disabled the Hi-Beams. The Running lights were still on with startup.
I want to keep the hi-beams, and disable the Running lights.
:(

Do I need to unplug '2'?
Cause that one is not a plug, it seems to be hardwired, so I would have to cut the wires.

In the meantime I plugged '1' back in, cause I want to keep my High Beams.
LoL

I think mine looks like number 2, but mine was a US car. It so long ago, man. It probably was aftermarket and was installed to pass Canadian government inspection. G-luck though.

number two wont be hardwared, follow the wires and you will find a plug for it.  Its just a pigtail style harness.

And number 2 does look like a DRL module,  number 1 looks like just some sort of relay....

what you can do it take a voltage meter and see what the voltages are for each pin in the headlight harness. because I notice that most DRL's are actually dimmer than driving lights/highbeam when you physically turned on the lights. spend some time to figure out what lead it is, and either disconnect it or cut it. That's what I did with my Cobra, worked great, looked even better.
Unfortunately my 2g spyder is a US car, so all I had to do there was yank out the hack job module they placed in there to pass inspection...  :-\

The OEM DRL module in a DSM is hard to find.
The wires in the Light Harness are only 3 wires. Positive high beam, positive low beam, and a common ground.

But module #2 in the pic, should be the one . . . I just haven't had time to get around to finding the pigtail end yet.
