Update, no spark. What could cause this?

Check your MPI fuse and make sure its good. If there's no spark at all it could be your CAS and I think the Power Transistor or possibly an ECU issue. Does the Check Engine light come on with the key on?

changed the cas and can now hear fuel pump relay still no spark, next step would be the transistor? and check engine light does not come on . also there is a birdcage looking light on.

Try coolant temp sensor. Your car may not start if it's faulty.

They check engine light should come on when you turn the key to "on" position. If it doesn't turn on. I would try a different ecu, along with making sure the fuses are not blown.

And yes, a bad ecu will cause no spark, along with no injector pulse. Could be just the CEL bulb is burnt out (or removed from cluster), but I don't see that very often.

I used to drive one of those!  Not impressed!  I'll take an escort anyday before a Focus.  (Of course I have yet to try the turbo version)
