Car basically dead
« on: March 11, 2015, 06:35:07 pm »
I have a fmic, wide band 02, correct ngk plugs gapped properly, turbo back exhaust, safc tuned. All has been well until today, but on the way to work i stopped at a light and when i went to accelerate there was almost zero power at all, like none. My autometer gauge showed normal boost but the car basically moved 5mph and my af gauge showed EXTREMELY rich, like 10 and it reeked like fuel. I checked for boost leaks and can't find any. Any ideas? No check engine light.

I've had the belt go before and it was a complete catastrophic meltdown. This car was lacking power the past few days and intermittently having similar issues off the line, but now it is basically capable of 10km and stuck at super rich AF once warmed up.

Perplexed

Yeah it was the first thing. One of the connections was loose and I tightened her back up. Its too dark to see if its come loose again, its one of the connections that isn't easily visible. Grrr

That's probably your problem. Hard to say without seeing the car though, and especially in the dark !!

God I hope so. With DSMs you always have the worst in the back of your mind.

They aren't that bad. Every turbocharged car has a bit more to them than naturally aspired. Most people neglect these cars, sell them, then the new buyer has to deal with the problems.

Yeah, that is true enough. Hopefully a cheap fix, car was running like a top until the past few days.

If you need a great mechanic to look at her, message Brett Haviland.

I am unfortunately busy with exams.

use Tbolt clamps on intercooler piping connections.  especially in 'hard to get to' areas.  They dont come loose like a hose clamp.
337awhp.  ---> 500 awhp ? =)

Replacing parts since early 2010.

Yeah it is all t bolt. Tried starting it again today, immediately back to AF of 9.5 and barely running. No engine light still

Car will be rich at start up, thats natural.
Sounds like a leak.

Check your temp sensor, check your fuel injectors too. See if you've got a funky smell.
Sounds like a boost leak though.
Do you have a boost leak tester?
