2G GST mystery wire
« on: June 19, 2015, 02:21:06 am »
Hey guys

So... I have a 2g. It's fairly new to me, but has just been sitting waiting for me to have time to spend on it. Needs some sorting.

And here we have the oil filter housing: Note the two wires hanging in front of the downpipe.

The forward (shorter one) goes to the terminal on the front side of the housing - The connector matches up and the length is right.

The second (longer) one has got no terminal left on it at all. Under the sheath it's yellow with a brown stripe, and about 16-18awg. And I can't figure out where it goes! It doesn't seem long enough to reach the alternator plug (would be guitar stringed to do so, and it's not bundled in that harness). And I can't see anything else obvious there with a connector hanging loose.

Any tips?

(As far as the rest of the buggery in the picture, the loose oil line is the old turbo feed - You can see the braided line in its' place. The small copper one plumbed in goes to the aftermarket pressure guage. I'm not sure if both those ports are usually used on the 2g or not...)

Thanks guys!

I believe what you are referring to is the old oil pressure gauge wire.  It is missing it's connector and probably too short to reach now that there is extra plumbing involved.

yup, that would be for the "variable" oil pressure gauge sensor.  Its been extended further out like travis said for the old oil line adapter.
get a female spade connector, remove the shielding and krimp  it to a wire and to the wire you are talking about and you might just have a working oil pressure gauge again lol

So, just to be clear. Both wires, same terminal?

no, the location you are referring to is for the wire that is intact.  you want to attach to the end of the sensor at the far right of the photo,
