Hypothetical piston swap 420a to 4g63
« on: October 25, 2015, 07:45:09 pm »

Hey, I did a quick search but no luck.  More research later but for now....

If the cylinder bore is the same or at least similar is there any reason why one could not use a set of forged pistons out of a 420a in a 4g63.  I just figured... remove pistons, measure diameter, bore out 4g63 accordingly, and figure out what rods I would need according to wrist pin diameter, piston height etc....

Seems easy enough.

Well considering phil Maki put b18c forged honda pistons in a 4g61t..... well I'm sure it could be done, but Ur biggest hurdle would be making sure the rods/wrist pin diameters and piston holes for wrist pins all are the correct size. Machine shop time at that point. And obviously if the bore is slightly different u will have to have the block bored out to the correct size to match the pistons.

if the piston bore is the same you might have Better luck trying to use 4g63 rods and seeing how much gap you have for wrist pin sizing it might work that way unless your total piston depth is different. You are basically making a Frankenstein rod piston combo so jut Gatta do your homework , :P
