Where to move my Psteering hard line?
« on: August 30, 2007, 04:38:39 pm »
It is resting infront of the rad like normal, but my Fmic would be sqweezing it between the rad and ic.

where should i move it to?

do i need it to run out side the car?

do I even need it or can i just hack it and make it reloop earlyer?

thanks

some have added an oil cooler for this and mounted it on the drivers side of the bumper cover like the stock smic is.

A small auto tranny cooler (kits available at Can tire) can be added in place of it. It's easier to put it behind the driver's side foglight as it makes for shorter hose routing. (Although there'd be nothing wrong with it where the old intercooler used to be)

The legs of the loop can also be bent slightly to allow it to be attached behind the rad support where it can be ziptied along the bottom of the rad.

I have a 1983 Saab 900S engine oil cooler in the drivers side fender well, sortof where the intercooler goes but on the other side.  Really its like it was meant to go there.

Take the lines if you can get them too, the fitment is very professional.  Very little modding needed.  easy install.  Works very well.  Gets warm after hard long cornering runs or auto-x, but only warm, never hot like the stock "cooler".

How big is your front mount? You can fit up to a 4" thick core easily under the bumper skin while still keeping your aircon. Unless you have crazy pipe routing then you are stuck.

the power steering cooler on the vehicle is not very efficient.  on my 2g, i just eliminated the cooler entirely and looped the in and out lines together.  i haven't had any problems yet and i daily drive.

I've done the same as Derek on my 1G.  Over a year of driving and no problems.  Just take the hardline out and re-route the in and out from the power steering pump fluid container.

Later, Vlad.
all go, no show!
