How's the alternator charging?

I had to play the "replace the charging system component" game until I replace both the battery and the alternator at the same time.  Finally my charging problems went away.

OK, back up again

i took the battery terminals off after charging wit hthe alternator. the next day i put it back and and the car started.

now, i the terminal is back on yesterday, and i left it over night. battery is dead again.

SAFC is not on my car . so my wiring should be fine because its not using the battery.  SOMETHING IS DRAINING MY BATTERY.

anyone know how to diagnose that?

Join the club man, I have the exact same problems....

get your alternator tested to make sure it is working properly... it might not be charging at idle.... or else you have something draining the battery constantly.

Check for ignition-off-draw.  If you don't know how to do it, bring it to a shop.  It takes about 2 mins to check.

take a 12v voltage tester and lift the ground on the battery and put the tester inline. you will see a bright glow from the tester if there is a draw on the battery. start pulling fuses one by one till the light goes out and then trace further once you have the cct that is shorting/grounding 12v.

Process of elimination is the best way if you have no idea what the draw is.

One thing to note, the test light has to be hooked up while removing the negative cable. So clip the test light on the cable, then hold the probe against the negative post then remove the cable. There has to be a connection at all times.

after all the testing. my die hard battery was only pulling 0.1 of a milliamp.
die hard battery is the old battery and it has not been drained after charging it with a charger.

i charged the new AC Delco battery for 24hours and the indicator still has not showed up, so i come to a conclusion, the delco battery is has hit the crappers.

thanks for all the help.
