someone explain this H20 injection to me

This is all new to me with water injection. how does it add to performance and what is the price and what stage in mods should this be the next step. And please do explain it to me nice and simple

as easy as it gets.

cools down air to decrease chance of detonation = can run more boost = more power.

am i right? i'm sure i'm close enough.
