thanks, but note that the slush series is more casual whereas the cacc regionals in summer is more competitive. last yr i left the mbc on and ran as a very underprepped SM car. bad idea (to stack the odds against myself) so that's why i downgraded mods to run stx.
cdn natls don't run scca classes like we do here. My 2006 autox goal is to trophy at the seattle scca natl tour, but in stx this time (vs the more powerfully modded ~285+hp wrx)
ryan,
here's autox in a nutshell:
- very safe, lowest cost racing that involves handling
- driver skill is the #1 factor, and it can be learned in ANY car
- course is different each day, always providing a new challenge (unlike a raceway road course)
- for much of the day you're working the course picking up cones, etc. and socializing
- but for 6-8 laps/mins there's the thrill of racing and competition (vs yourself as well as others)
spectating isn't very exciting, but drop by an event sometime and ask to ride shotgun w/ a fast car/driver (the organizers can refer you to someone if you don't know). It'll be a good free preview of autox racing.
for an "armchair" preview, see this vid of mine at
