Basic requirements for Mission

Im planning on racing the next friday it doesnt rain.. im just wondering if ill pass tech... here are a few of my concerns... any input is great

my car is an 89.... so i believe i hate to run straight water instead of 50/50 coolant...  i dont have any overflow tank.. it overflows under the car... so what could i be using instead?

i have steelies and they're fairly worn, one of the tires is at the tread marks

and i have a CF hood.... do i need hood pins?

i dont plan to run any lower than 15.0 so will i need a helmet?

thanks guys.. if i get this all sorted out, i might be able to race this friday

everyone has to run with no coolant and you need to have an overflow bottle, get a pop bottle or something and strap it down.

No hood pins needed, just say that its stock running water.

mostly what travis said... anything 95 and newer doesn't have to run water, but that's not most of us

you need overflow.... no hoodpins required... only other thing is your battery needs to be clamped down good too.... i always get harassed for that.. but never stopped

usually the only thing they check on imports is your battery tie down and your coolant.

I think I have seen this subject discussed at least 20 times since this board came up. Is their an easy way to put up the most frequently discussed topics and have links to them? Sometimes I feel like I am just reading the same shit over and over...Yeah I am cranky today. :evil:

one last thing... if im running straight water, wont it totally boil over? i already have problems with it getting hot and overflowing a bit.. only a bit.. but wont straight water create way more pressure?

water is actually cooler, go get a bottle of water wetter from Redline, this stuff is amazing, runs so cool man, try it out, you may be surprised.  And if you boil over a lot they wont let you run, so go get a can of water wetter and try it out, also a new rad may help =)

so does that mean ... 2 headlights? or jsut 1? would i get disqualified or kicked out if i only used 1?

you can get away with short sleeves
you most likely can NOT get away with shorts
you can take your headlight out as long as you have one working

and here's the section on batteries from the 2003 NHRA Rulebook

"All batteries must be securely mounted. Batteries may not be relocated into the driver or passenger compartments. Rear firewall of .024-inch steel or .032-inch aluminum (including package tray) required when battery is reloacted in trunk. In lieu of rear firewall, battery may be located in a sealed .024-inch-steel, .032-inch aluminum, or NHRA-accepted poly box. If sealed box is used in lieu of rear firewall, box may not be used to secure battery and must be vented outside of body. Relocated battery(s) must be fastened to frame or frame structure with a minumum of 3/8-inch-diameter bolts. ("J" hooks prohibited or must have open end welded shut.) Metal battery hold-down straps mandatory. Strapping tape prohibited."

crappy... doenst look like ill get to race after-all.... which is extremely gay...

how much are these boxes and what are the odds of lordco being able to get one by 3 tommorrow?

*edit.. ill just put my battery in the front for tommorrow.. it will probably help my launch anyways
