They care if the crack is right accross the windshield causing it to be a structural safety issue.  Been there done that.

This is how my most recent tech went at mission.

Pull up in my colt.  Exhuast was disconnected plus a few other things that if they noticed it wouldn't pass.


Guy grabs my tech card.  Looks at my car for 1 second (literally 1 second)  Looks at my helmet sitting ontop of my car.  Writes down the brand of my helmet and sticks the sticker to the top drivers side of my windshield.

No inspection at all.  Never grabbed my battery... never checked under the car for leaks.... nothing.

Maybe my car looks stock or something???  

I think it has to more with if you get a lazy guy that just wants to get through cars or a guy that takes his time.

Also i asked the tech guys the weekend before about the hacving to run water in your cooling system.  FOr guys with a closed coolent system (run a overflow tank) you can run your normal mix of coolent/water and be fine.  You only have to drain your coolent and run water if you have a open coolent system (no overflow tank)
