Stealth vs Talon
« on: October 27, 2002, 12:07:49 pm »
During the Battle of the imports 2 years ago in Edmonton all us Talon boys were shocked to see a 6 speed Stealth out there with a 40+ guy ripping it up.
He was pulling 13.7's for the qualifying and looked fast but not a car to worry about.
After the ladder was built we saw him toast a honduh and then a lightly modded Talon with a time of 13.30 , oh oh he's sand bagging it.
Well he worked his way up the ladder to the semi final and was to race my best friend. We all thought the Talon was going to pull a high 12 pass and bye bye Stealth. The Talon did do a 13.00 but the Stealth did a 12.70.
Holy Moly this guy is sand bagging it. There was a 2 hour break to complete all the different semi final classes then him and I would be up.
It's spy time and all the club went looking for answers to see what I was up against. Well we got a short glimpse at the engine and saw nothing except for a K+N.
Well it was coming close to race time and I was figuring that I will run 30 psi on my stock engine and hope for the best. EEEK!
I was so nervus that when I staged it took me 30 seconds to get the staging lights on. The lights went and we launched , we ran side by side until 3rd and then he just dropped back like he gave up. I ended up doing a mid 12 @ 117 and won the race but I was very curious of what happened.
I went over to help him figure out why his car died and found out an OEM clamp and upper pipe let go. No biggie it was fixed in two seconds.

I got the nerve up and said now that the day is over why don't you show me your mods.
Holy techno man!! This car had NOS , Water/Alcho injection , boost control and exhaust just to name a few.
He had all his solinoids and lines coverd with factory black conduit and they were near impossible to see where he had placed them.
VERY VERY NICE INSTALL!!!!

I counted myself as lucky and wondered what would have happened.

Another good day at the track.

often wondered about those cars...

On paper they seem real baddass, but they also seem plenty plump too.

How do they do stock like??

Hottie on the hiway a few weeks back would'nt dance so I can't say first hand.

they run mid 13's right outta the box??  Holy hell, thats pretty dang fast.

Wonder why no one made a big deal outta them??  Everyone talked about the 300Ztt, the Rx7TT, the Vettes and Vipers etc, but the Stealth/3KGT seemed to sorta take a back burner.

mostly due to weight, i wouldn't say 13.5 is all that impressive from 320hp

sure it is, for a stock street car!  That would take almost all except for real hot stuff like Turbo 911's, C5 Vettes, Vipers etc.  And in its price class, I'd say it was close to the quickest, if not the quickest.

well thats true, but still not that impressive for what it is. I mean sure its stock but if my car was came with 320hp i sure as hell hope it would be faster than a dsm or 5.0 with minor mods.

Anyway anyone know what they priced at brand new? I know they have a tonne of nifty little features but never heard what its price was.

actually a lot dude

a stock twin-turbo stealth runs 13.5

downpipe-exhaust and intake, with 15 lbs of boost = 12.75's

that's pretty FREAKIN good if you ask me..

ya but that's 12s, how many 10, 11 sec stealths are there out there?

I remember reading one of the fastest ones in the US a couple years ago was that BEE racing one and it was only mid 11s  The only registry of 1/4mile times i can find is on 3si.org but fastest one listed there is 12.5

Very small aftermarket unfortunately.

actually if you pick up this months issue of...... damn.. SC i think?

there's a Stealth in there running 10.80's... and that's because he can't get traction in 2nd gear... forget first...

his 60 ft times are 1.8's....smoking the tires that is

you are correct though.. not as large of an aftermarket as the talons or eclipse's
