$5.95 2g talon tailight mod

Required:

1. A severe hangover
2. $5.95 red spray paint can from Lordco
3. About 30 minutes

Open the trunk, pull off all rear panels and unbolt the 3 tailight pieces (10mm deep socket). Grab a large cloth and place one tailight on top. Spray away, repeat for other tailights. Here is the before pic:

This is what you end up with:

It still looks a little orange in the picture, but in person it is a nice red. Looks alot better than the lame orange that the tailights have stock IMO.

Is this just red spray paint, or an actual type of paint for this application( I know it just says red spray paint, but want to be sure)

It is just red spray paint, and can be purchased at any Lordco. Suprisingly the turn signal light still shines through pretty good, even with a couple of coats of paint on it.

Will there be no problems of flaking/running paint due to extensive use of the brake lights?  heating up the taillight piece.

I don't think the brake lights heat up enough to cause problems in the paint, but if you are worried you can use high heat caliper paint. That paint is made to hold a lot more heat then your brake lights can produce.

so that's why I couldn't see them the other day. They are pretty dark in the daylight. Maybe try next time your hungover to respray then with transparent candy apple red model paint!
