aircare pass w/ new cat, o2 sensor (velocity auto works)
« on: August 30, 2005, 07:02:37 pm »
yesterday it barely failed HC in drive test (.07 over .5).

went to velocity auto works in burnaby today (100% pass record, 79/79 repairs in last yr, also recommended by 2 coworkers) and was told cat was about 50% efficient (should be 80% or so) and front o2 sensor was slow/lazy.

total cost "happened" to be the max repair limit: 600 for 92-98 cars:
300 cat (cheaper than lordco, and installed!)
154 o2  (installed, cheaper than retail part!)
 72 diag
 74 tax

they aircared it for me and all 3 results improved, as expected.  most importantly HC passed.  hopefully 2 yrs from now it'll pass again.

anyway this shop seems honest/competent, worthy of repeat biz, unlike both burnaby dodge/chry dlrs

yep, if your O2 is lazy and your cat is half cooked, replacing those will help enourmously!

Good to hear they are honest and nice to deal with.  Good prices with labour in.  Bit high on the diag, but not too bad and considering the other prices, totally acceptible.

Not a bad deal.. Seeing posts like these makes me glad I don't have aircare to deal with up here in the interior!

The O2 sensor though seems a bit steep, last time I grabbed an NTK from Lordco, it ran me $103, although yours was installed.

lol, when in doubt, just replace the cat and O2.

I had to go through aircare earlier this month, so I bought a new 3" universal cat ($150), put it on, disconnected the wastegate, plugged the vacuum hose to the BOV, went through aircare and passed with flying colors.
