For those thinking of giving it a shot, have a few tips and a few pictures from my little project...
to save money: Ace hardware in Lynden is $8 bucks a can (all 11oz cans)
Napa in Lynden is 11.99 a can
Home Hardware here is 21.99 a can
first step, really try to clean your old wheels up, scrub the crap out of them :p allows for a stronger bond.. allow to dry, move to a well ventilated shady spot (preferably indoors to avoid wind)
believe it or not i scrubbed these... they are oxidized and past their prime.. perfect do it yourself guinea pigs (during the summer i actually had to use product to shine up my wheels like in my avatar.. big pain in the butt)
wheels are dry? thinking of masking? don't bother! you can peel the excess off your tires easily (i didn't have to because i'm a boss).
now for the fun part..spray time! really slab this stuff on thick be really generous and this stuff is smelly are you in a ventilated room?
taken during the first coat obviously.. looking nice so far
finish your 2-4 coats and let dry for 3-4 hours.. here's mine about 20 mins after the final coat
my wheels are 18" to put on three thick coats i used 3 cans, with 20-30minutes in between coats to allow hardening as recommended
total cost $24us dollars. total time = roughly 2 hrs
if you're not happy with it you can peel it off, you can paint the finish , and there is a clear plasti-dip if you wanted to make a glossier finish, or just protect your current wheels.. good product imo and easy to apply.. now to see how well it holds up
