This is the stock one out of a 1990 colt 1.5 sohc 200gt.
I got it from Mike Meron today.
Am I satisfied? Read on dear tuner.
I was expecting to gain a small amount of go from it, and maybe some better idle qualities due to better fuel atomization.
After I found the bolt that I dropped onto the front control arm(magnetic thingy=good) and put it back togeather, it fired right up, with a much better idle. I had to add a couple of percent at idle, and at 2k 3k and 4k. I figure that this is because my injectors were just dumping thick fuel in before, and now it is atomized. It runs nicer, and cleaner I'm sure. Note: as of 2 weeks later, I have taken that fuel out at 2k-4k, and a few percent more, afer the ECU learned the new trims.
Now onto the part we turbo guys love. Namely, did it make the car faster??
my best run ever at Mission was last saturday, the 20th. I ran a 13.6 on pump gas, thru a catalytic converter, etc etc.
anyways, point being, I logged that run, and had ok results. 2nd gear had 6 counts of knock from 6500 and up, with only 15deg of timing, max. 3rd was worse with no less than 4 counts of knock and from 5700 and up it was at least 14, with it going to 25 counts from 6750 to redline. Timing was at best 16deg, but generally around 12. 4th gear was by far the worst, with a flatline of 15 counts from shift to when I let off at 5400. Timing was only 11 deg, pretty flat.
This being a nice cold evening run around 7:15 pm.
today, I did some logging with the new(used) regulator, and I have some results to share with ya all.
I was only able to pull redline in 3rd, as the world was FAST approaching
so the results are not TOTALLY accurate due to no 4th gear pull.
Anyways, on to the good stuff. 2nd and 3rd gear produced only 2 spikes of 1(ONE!!) count of knock!!! thats it, other than that, flat green line at the bottom baybe
and in second I got 18-20 deg of timing, while 3rd produced 19-21 deg!! Yea BAYBE
Oh, did I mention that it was almost 30 deg outside when I did this?? And and I also forgot to mention that the runs I did were up a big, long hill!! Promontory Hill for those who live out here. The end of Prest road. The hill is enough to coast to well over 100km/h with the motor off.
Note #2, I have run this at the track since, with good results. I was able to tune 4th gear as well, and I get a bit of knock in 4th, but no where near what it was before. I was also able to run a 13.6 at 100 again, but this time with a 1.96 second 60', whereas the last 13.6 was with a 1.86 second 60'. So with a proper launch, 3 good shifts and the latest tuning(the rains came before my last run, track is now closed for the season), the car should hit 13.4 or better.
