I picked up a used 2G MAS
I picked up part of a 1G wiring harrness to get the igniter plug (perfect fit for the 2G MAS and easier to find - fvaq).
I just moved the one wire in the plug over to match it up.
I picked up a 3" Rubber coupler from Home Depot and shaved the inside diameter a bit on one end for a better fit.
I then got the 1G MAF side plug
A little demel and solder ...
a plate to mate the 1G filter to.I wanted to remove the can entirely.
I wanted something firm
I wanted something that would be easy to take on/off the filter
A plastic kitchen cutting board!
Items required:
Demel (ah yes..what a great tool)
4 - bolts with nuts and washer/lock washer
1 - Old air filter (to use for template)
1 - Plastic cutting board from the dollar store.
First I ripped up my old air filter so I could use the base as a template.
I plan on using a clamp system for retention so I want it the same size as the filter's ring.
Second, after cutting it up (notice my nic - oops) I use the 2G MAS gasket as a template for the inner size.
Third - once everything fits snug - I mark then drill out holes for the bolts
NOTE: You will need to countersink the bolt holes so the heads are flush because the filter patially will sit on them otherwise.
Easy release clamps for air filter.
4 -washers, wingnuts, and eyebolts
I bent the eyeholes into hooks.
Stock filter in pic (but I use K&N)
And finally - installed !
Was is a bitch to put in? yup :x
Now I got to figure how to tune the damn thing
