Alternator shield
« on: May 14, 2004, 08:35:09 pm »
Well since I have heard so much about people cooking thier alternator and the fact that I now have a 3" DP and 2" Dump tube both within 4MM of my alternator I decided I better build some sort of shield.

Items needed:
Steel heating duct pipe from Home depot (about $4 will make 3 of these)
Tin snips
12mm socket and wrench

It is too simple to go into details - here are the pics.

Now this is not going to eliminate heat radiating from the exhaust onto the side of the alternator, but it should cut it down significantly, give the alternator cooler air to breath and partly shield my oil filter as well.
