camosun carpentry

for next semester im peacin out of belmont and going into into level 1 carpentry at camosun to become a framer.... anyone tke this course or hear anything about it?

i know what its like....its camosun.... the question should have more so been has anyone here taken this program? and if so what were your thoughts. i just dont realy know what to expect

ok so i just want to know if your "peacin out of belmont" does that mean your still in highschool?  If you are, i highly suggest finishing highschool and get your grade 12 before you go on to be a framer.

no way the way it works is that because i am still in highschool belmont pays for my tuition and with this course i still graduate cause i get 24 credits.... i am completing my english 12 and i will be getting my grade 12 deploma at the end of the year a long with everyone else :)

there would be no way my parents would have signed for me to take this course if i wouldnt graduate

Well in that case good to hear your going to finish grade 12.  My roomate is a ticketed Carpenter, he finished last year all i can say is for the 6 weeks he was in school i barely saw him because he was so busy studying and doing homework.  The stuff he showed me that he was learning was pretty intense, lots and lots of math, tons of stuff to remember from the huge code book. Concrete stuff, load bearing, sheer strengths of nails and screws and other fasteners.  It looked like a lot to me, but then again i'm a Mechanic not a Carpenter. 
I never once heard him complain and say it was a shitty course, just that when your in school for the 6 weeks they throw a lot at you, but my apprenticeship was the same way.

it all isnt that bad in comparison. Im in mechanical engineering and instead of remebering the shear strengths of nails, beams a load bearing structures....      we get to calculate them based ont he material they are made of!!

I've got a friend who did the exact same program through Parkland a few years back.
Never heard any complaints from him, and he's doing fairly well right now... Working on a small crew but always busy.
